Enhanced Exponential Fatigue Crack Growth Model for Al-alloy
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to use “exponential model” in the prediction of fatigue life without integrating the fatigue crack growth rate curve (FCGR). The obtained results are compared with experimental crack growth data obtained for 2024-T351 aluminum alloy for four bending V-Charpy specimens under constant amplitude loading in stress ratio range from 0.1 to 0.3 and give good agreement. These results cover stages II and III of fatigue crack growth. It is observed that in the predicted results, mean values of percentage deviation and prediction ratio of the model are 4.24 and 0.945 respectively. The predicted results give good agreement with the literature.

Modeling of Corrosion-Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Based on Least Square Support Vector Machine Technique
Understanding crack growth behavior in engineering components subjected to cyclic fatigue loadings is necessary for design and maintenance purpose. Fatigue crack growth (FCG) rate strongly depends on the applied loading characteristics in a nonlinear manner, and when the mechanical loadings combine with environmental attacks, this dependency will be more complicated. Since, the experimental inv...

High strength, wrought 7xxx (Al-Zn-Mg) and Al-Li based alloys show a propensity for fatigue macroscopic crack deflections aligned along grain boundaries. The present work reports a study on a 3 rd generation Al-Li based alloy in the form of a thick AA2297 (Al-Cu-Li alloy) plate, where it was found that although the lithium containing material may indeed be more susceptible to mixed mode grain b...
متن کاملDENDRITE FRAGMENTATION IN THE SHEARED MELT BY FATIGUE EROSION MECHANISM OF SEMISOLID Al-Si ALLOY (A.356.0
Over the last few decades, there have been many mechanisms proposed to describe the formation of the non-dendritic microstructures during Semisolid Metal (SSM) processing; including dendrite fragmentation, spherical growth, cellular growth and recalescence. Dendrite fragmentation is the most popular mechanism of all these hypotheses. It is the purpose of the present article to examine the morph...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation and Numerical Prediction of Fatigue Life in Force Fitted Fastener Holes
In this paper, the effect of interference fit on fatigue life of holed plate of mechanical joints was investigated experimentally. Fatigue tests were carried out on the holed specimens of Al-alloy 7075-T6 alloy. The interference fit process consists of force fitting a fastener into the hole with a negative clearance (diameter of the fastener is larger than of the hole) that produces beneficial ...
متن کاملRemaining Fatigue Lifetime Prediction for Retirement-for-Cause in Metals
A methodology is evaluated to predict the probability of specimen failure with subsequent fatigue, after a short surface crack has been detected in Al 2219-T851 alloy. Cracks are detected and tracked to failure using optical microscopy. Predictions of remaining lifetime distributions are made with a i~onte Carlo procedure in conjunction with growth laws which model the effect of grains of diffe...
